I have added a luggage rack as a support for my ham radio antenna and also to facilitate the transportation of camping equipment used on some of our two day events. I recently installed a receiver type trailer hitch which is used not for towing a trailer but to facilitate the use of a platform for additional luggage below and behind the license plate during longer trips. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ HAM RADIO ]: Transceiver Manufacturer....: Kenwood Model.......................: TM-742A I have been a General license holder since May of 2000 and I received my no-code technician ticket in September of ‘92. Presently I have a Kenwood TM742A mounted on my motorcycle. The radio is mounted in the trunk and the control head is remote mounted between the faux gas tank and the ignition switch, which allows for easy control of the radio while riding. [ SPECIAL EQUIPMENT ]: My head set is a standard J & M off the shelf model. It has works quite well and many people have told me that they cannot believe that I am transmitting from a motorcycle. I normally use a Comet HP-32 (lovingly referred to as the “Rhino Killer”) as an antenna. However, when on MARC events requiring a slightly higher gain antenna I change to a Comet FL67S for a bit more range. Friends have asked me why I don't integrate the ham with the stock CB. I have intentionally kept them separate in order to facilitate the use of both the ham and the CB while working events or participating in rides with the GWRRA where most of the members have only CB. I have recently modified my Hondaline radio system to permit the audio of my ham radio to be heard through the Honda system. Thus permitting by passenger to hear the ham receiver. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ HOBBIES / SPECIAL INTERESTS ]: I have been President of MARC since January 1999. I was born 9 Dec 1943, in Belen, New Mexico. My parents moved to Socorro, New Mexico in Feb of 1944 where they opened the Socorro Cafe, thus my background in food and the culinary arts. Presently, I am unemployed, my last employer was GE (General Electric) at the West Coast Ontario Engine Repair facility located at the Ontario International Airport, in Ontario California. I worked in the maintenance shop as an electrician. However, if it was broken or out of order I repaired it regardless, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, paint etc. My nickname at work was “Woody” as I was also the carpenter on call for the shop. I have been a member of MARC since 1992. As a MARC member I have participated in numerous charity events to include the: ** '95, to 2002 Multiple Sclerosis 150K bicycle ride from Newport Bay to Mission Bay in San Diego. ** ‘96 & ‘97 Challenge Cup Relay Race, ran by sworn police officers from around the world. The race is from Baker, California to Las Vegas, Nevada, 120 miles in 20 stages, and is ran on smaller roads through the desert. This race is sponsored and conducted by the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club. ** Love Rides 11, to 19, and was coordinator and on the planning committee for the last seven Love Rides, which benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Love Ride Foundation, and the Los Angeles Times Read by Nine Foundation. ** Escorted the ‘94, ‘95 and ‘98 Tour de Cure, benefiting the American Diabetes Association in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. In 1998 and again in ‘99, I was the coordinator for MARC in this event. ** In the spring of 2002 I and MARC participated in the Ride for Abused Children, which is also a two day 150 Kilometer ride from the Newport Beach area of Orange county to Mission Bay in San Diego. ** And in the fall of 2000, as a MARC member, I escorted bicyclists from Ontario, California to Palm Springs, California, (150 kilometers) a two-day event known as the “Palm Springs Get Away,” which also raised funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Association. ** Ridden twice in the Ride For Kids, sponsored by American Honda for Pediatric Brain Tumor Research, and in the Orange County Heart and Sole Classic to raise funds for heart disease research. I am very proud of MARC and what it does to assist these charities and many other community organizations in their fund raising efforts. ___________________________________________________________________________ Motorcycling Amateur Radio Club http://www.marc-hq.org Member Contact & Bio Information ### End of Document ###
